Muhammed Lamin Jadama

My name is Muhammed Lamin Jadama, I was born and raised in the Senegambia region. I lived in Italy where I experienced and faced many difficult circumstances during and after the asylum process.

In 2009, I worked in farms to survive but also to have a different experience for some months, then I later moved to Milan where I worked as a journalist for an online newspaper called Afronline for about a year.

In October 2011, I decided to move to Berlin for a new adventure. And also with very little expectations because of my status which, due to the Dublin regulations, did not allow me to work here in Germany and stay for more than 90 days.

Since 2010, I have always been on the ground, closely tracing the quiet and dramatic moments of refugees’ daily life in Europe. I used my camera for shooting pictures and documenting the situation of refugees and immigrants in many European countries including the 2012-2014 Oranienplatz refugee occupation camp in Berlin. My wish is to make the unbearable situation of refugees and immigrants and their struggles in daily life visible.
