Moro Yapha

I am Moro Yapha, from The Gambia, born in 1990. I am a radio host/producer and human rights advocate. I am a founding member of Wearebornfree! and a board member of the Radio Netzwerk Berlin e.V..

I use social media to raise awareness and conduct lectures and workshops that focus on gender equality and on empowering women, minorities, and refugees most especially.

In 2015 August I met my colleagues in Berlin – refugee activist Muhammed Lamin Jadama and Bino Byansi Byakuleka – through the Oplatz movement in Berlin. And in 2016 I joined them to build the concept of Wearebornfree! Empowerment Radio to develop the platform as part of our daily activism.

And my aim and motivation of doing the radio work is to create a platform and space to express myself freely and willingly through everyday political and social activism and advocacy for minorities and marginalized people or groups in our communities and societies. I raise my voice for myself and for those who can not – never underestimate the power of your voice!
